Accepting Critics
Every Wednesday will always start the same, let's give some grows and glows. What did we do right this show, and how can we improve? I think it's an important skill to understand that your work has flaws, it can change. I have tried endlessly to improve my work during my time in The Flash. I watch my advisor for his reactions every time I play something in class. He wears his emotions on his face, and it took a long time to get something more than a sigh of disappointment, or a forehead rub. But no matter the initial reaction, there will always be glows and grows. I like the glows more than the grows, but constructive criticism is the most important element in The Flash. I actively listen to my classmates and advisor.
With The Desk project, I brought in a rough cut of the interviews for everyone to see. I showed them what I had planned and put together. I wanted to first, remove any doubt that the story couldn’t be done, and second, see what everyone thought of it. I wanted to hear from my peers and advisor in order to make sure the story was as complete as possible. |

Specific Changes
One thing about developing a skill is that it can be amazing to see how far you have come. Throughout this process, I have taken the time to look over my old stories, and I cringed. Don’t get me wrong, I love these stories, and they still contain the same passion as my recent work, but they lack something. Both the Unified Phy Ed and Drews Animals Stories are missing a sort of cohesion. I took some time to break them down and work with the
Unified Edits
When I first re-watched the old story, the one thing I felt was off was the length. It's far too long and repetitive. It's a 2-minute long clip and the interview clips chosen say the same thing. I got bored watching it, hearing the teacher define inclusion 3 different times. There are also certain errors I can’t fix. The microphone isn’t working, The tripod is crooked, and during one of the interviews, one of my assistants interrupted the speaker. Overall the story is something that I wouldn’t dare air today. So after working with it for a little bit, re-watching the interviews, and using my current skills, I created a revamped version of it.

Similarly to Unified, I saw the opportunity to make changes to this story after learning some more skills. Unfortunately, the extra B-roll was kept in a file that was deleted by our district in order to save space. It deleted a few dozen quality pieces and all of the hard work that I had. I was left solely with what had aired, but I still attempted to make a few changes.
